About You:

SmartAsset is hiring a Director of Paid Acquisition to help manage B2C digital marketing efforts for our financial advisor lead generation business. The ideal candidate lives and breathes metrics-driven direct response digital marketing and has a proven record of scaling DR businesses. You’ve successfully managed paid acquisition teams, preferably in the lead generation space. You have a deep and current understanding of key digital marketing platforms. You know how to develop more junior team members and coach them to be independent thinkers and world-class marketers. You will play a significant role in growing our lead generation business, where we pair investors with financial advisors. 

This position will oversee key portions of our digital marketing portfolio, which encompasses dozens of marketing sources, 7-figures in monthly ad spend and a team of marketing managers. You have advanced knowledge of SEM and paid social, and the corresponding platforms. You will operate on both a strategic and tactical level, guiding channel managers to hit monthly revenue and margin targets, while diving deep into a range of analytical and conversion optimization projects to improve overall performance. This position reports to the Senior Director of Performance Marketing. 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee growth in two key areas of performance marketing portfolio: SEM & Social. 
  • Manage portfolio of marketing sources to hit monthly and long-term revenue and profitability targets
  • Work with Data Engineering to improve actionable insights into channel performance
  • Work with direct reports to execute and optimize growth strategies that align with company goals
  • Find opportunities to improve scale or margin through testing, martech, data insights and attribution 
  • Provide growth opportunities and career development support for team members

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in performance marketing
  • 3+ years of experience managing direct response paid acquisition marketing teams with 7-figure budgets
  • Expert level understanding of SEM, FB/Instagram and direct response digital marketing.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to derive insights from large, disparate data sources
  • Proficient with variety of web analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel or equivalent
  • Ability to set high standards and inspire a team to win
  • Results-focused thinker able to prioritize competing priorities based on expected impact
  • SQL experience a plus
