Skylo's focus is on enabling connected services for people outdoors and connected workflows for machines at work across critical industries such as agriculture, maritime, logistics, mining, and others, in addition to mass-market consumer devices.
Skylo Technologies is hiring a Core Engineer. This person will be part of the team responsible for designing, enhancing and maintaining Skylo NTN Core Network. The right candidate will combine a depth of technical knowledge with a passion for creating novel software solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain and enhance a 3GPP compliant NTN Core Network solution for Skylo’s hybrid (cellular+satellite) network deployments
- Design Core features to optimise Skylo’s network to increase capability and efficiency for IoT and consumer applications
- Coordinate features and enhancements development with partners
- Support and enhance Core elements such as Diameter Routing Agent (DRA)
- Interfacing with Core Network vendors to identify and resolve technical issues
- Support Network Engineering and Operations
- Inculcate accountability and ownership within the team - YBYO (You build it, you own it!) by promoting robust design, development and documentation practices
Qualifications
- The successful candidate will have a solid grasp of the entire product development life cycle, from initial concept and requirements elicitation all the way through deployment and maintenance
- Hands-on experience with EPC (Evolved Packet Core) components such as MME, HSS, SGW & PGW
- Hands-on experience with EPC interfaces such as S1, S6a, S5, S8, SGi, SGd & SGs
- Good understanding of SCEF (Service Capability Exposure Function)
- Good understanding of 3GPP Control Plane Cellular IoT
- Good understanding of Non-IP and IP data paths through an EPC
- Hands-on development experience in one or more of the following technical areas:
- C/C++
- Virtual Machines
- Docker, Kubernetes
- Troubleshooting with EPC components in a live network
- Bachelor's or Master’s in Communications Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
- Five or more years work experience in LTE/5G Core Network domain
- You are proactive and have a hands-on approach to work assignments
