The Role

This permanent position is part of Sixth Street’s new Insurance Engineering team, which is being formed as Sixth Street builds its business serving insurance company limited partners. As a full-stack engineer, you will be instrumental in the development of infrastructure designed to service the distinct reporting and communication needs of insurance companies. In your first two years, you will develop a bespoke security master, automate complex cashflow projection models, and build integrations with Sixth Street’s clients.

This is an opportunity to contribute materially to a new business at a leading alternative investment firm using innovative technology to solve complex problems.

About our Products and Stack

  • We are automating complex Insurance Asset Management workflows to streamline work for our internal users and clients 
  • We use Allvue as our OMS, Geneva as our ABOR, and we are developing systems for reporting, risk, and security master 
  • We are heavily Python / AWS Lambda centric 
  • We use Github Actions for CI/CD  
  • We use Cloudformation and CDK for Infrastructure as Code 

Core Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Engineering, Accounting, Operations, and Insurance teams, applying data and technology to scale Sixth Street’s insurance asset management business
  • Invest towards strategic Technology Portfolio goals (e.g., Sixth Street’s new data warehouse) by delivering business-specific tactical wins that build on each other
  • Own software components and services from design to post-production monitoring

Preferred

  • 5+ years’ experience in professional software development.  Degree in Computer Science or STEM field preferred  
  • Excellent programming skills in a major programming language. Python experience preferred   
  • Experience working with relational databases  
  • Passion for CI/CD and shipping well-engineered code in a repeatable and reliable way.  
  • Curiosity and hunger to keep learning 
  • Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail 
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams 
  • Strong prioritization and project management skills 
  • Comfort working in a high growth, iterative environment
