Position Overview

The database market is expected to be $89B+ by 2024 and SingleStore is leading its disruption via next generation technology of real-time, multi-model distributed SQL databases. Previous eras of  cloud databases used legacy single-node database building blocks or narrow, specialized NoSQL one-trick ponies. SingleStore is the unified database for fast analytics on any data anywhere which brings all of these data models together which brings query latencies down to single-digit milliseconds for massive streaming data. Customers include large enterprises like Uber, Disney, GE, and Dell as well as fast growing SaaS startups.

The SingleStore community is transforming what’s possible with real-time data and empowering developers to build world-beating analytics SaaS products. You will be a part of a team of developer advocates who are all focused on research, writing and publishing technical content relevant to SingleStore Managed Service. You will code sample applications, write technical to produce content (e.g. videos, blog posts, podcasts, etc.) that is meaningful and helps developers learn. This team works closely with community managers, Product Marketing, Product Management, and Engineering.

What You’ll Do

This role covers the full scope of developer advocacy and developer relations:

  • Grow and develop the success of SingleStore’s developer experience, as well as the size and richness of the developer community. 
  • Represent the needs and perspectives of the developer community to SingleStore’s Product and Engineering teams.
  • Participate in and contribute to SingleStore’s online developer's forums. 
  • Produce code samples, design patterns, blog posts, videos, and tutorials for developers. 
  • Write some of the best blog posts the real-time data and database world has ever seen.
  • Contribute to and get community members to contribute to the expansion and maturing of the SingleStore Community
  • Foster and build relationships between SingleStore’s and other developer communities. 
  • Collaborate with SingleStore’s product, engineering, and marketing teams to identify customer needs and to jointly meet those needs. 
  • Develop and present talks in online and in-person events with the community of developers, operations professionals, and other distributed systems enthusiasts around the world, teaching and inspiring them to apply real-time streaming and operational analytics technologies more effectively. Events include, but are not limited to, industry conferences, meetups, and hackathons. 
  • Help other developers by interacting on SingleStore Forums, SingleStore Community Slack, Stack Overflow, Twitter, GitHub, or places where developers come for help online
  • Represent the developer community to the SingleStore product and engineering teams, making sure that everything we build is easy to learn and sensible to use.

What You’ll Need

  • You have a computer science degree, prior software engineering, or strong technical work experience as a data engineer or software engineer.
  • Strong databases skills (SQL or NoSQL)
  • Knowledge of at least two major programming languages - e.g. Java, Go, Rust, Node, Ruby, or C#
  • You should be comfortable working with cloud services like AWS, Azure and GCP (Google Cloud Platform)
  • Interest in databases real-time analytics, distributed systems, and machine learning. 
  • Experience writing technical content and enjoy reaching developers and data engineers through fun, on-brand technical blog posts
  • You love to teach and share and have the ability to explain complex issues in a simple understandable manner and a life-long learner.
  • You are a fantastic communicator both verbally and in writing. Have excellent technical writing skills, as well as the ability to present on-camera.
  • You can write top-quality code samples, jumpstarts and application prototypes to demonstrate the technologies you want to teach
  • Recording videos of your talks and articles is something you enjoy sharing with the data engineer and application developer community
  • You’re a fun, confident speaker at conferences and meetups—even online
  • Prior experience working in a start-up environment.
