Technology is at the core of the federal government’s efforts to better manage its own processes and modernize the services it provides to citizens, employees and the military. And hand-in-hand with tech transformation are the contracting programs that ensure government agencies have access to the products and services needed to drive change. Sightline Media is looking for a Reporter for Federal Times, the premiere brand covering government management and workforce. This position will include writing enterprise packages and working sources for exclusives about the IT management, tactics, and programs at both individual federal agencies as well as governmentwide, how industry is supporting government in its efforts to better leverage commercial products and expertise, and how Congress is both helping and hurting efforts to update IT systems and processes through budgeting and oversight. The Tech Reporter will also track the enterprise IT investments happening at the Department of Defense, and how those investments to improve Pentagon management could extend to the battlefield to support the war fighter. The individual will also be our lead reporter on civilian cybersecurity efforts. A portion of stories produced by the Tech Reporter will filter across our business-to-government brands, including Defense News, C4ISRNET and Fifth Domain.
We want someone who will forge strong relationships within the government technology community, the companies in and around the beltway, and leaders in Silicon Valley. The right candidate will understand how to post two to three items a day, via writing, curating, aggregating and editing, some of which will include multimedia. They’ll have a vision for what makes a strong Federal Times Story story and will tell that story through the lens of the federal workforce . We’re looking for a modern journalist who is comfortable attending and participating in industry events, both as a reporter and a brand ambassador.
For more than 50 years, Federal Times has stood as the indispensable source of news, analysis and insight for the federal management community.
