TEAM OVERVIEW:

The Communications team purpose is to drive engagement among potential and actual users through the creation of strategic content. Performance is measured by their ability to grow ShipStation traffic, trials and subscribers.       

As our Creative Copywriter, you’ll support the Auctane Content team in researching, drafting, writing, and proofreading blog posts, web content, and print/digital marketing assets for four innovative, tech brands (ShipStation, ShipEngine, ShippingEasy, and ShipWorks). You’ll have a chance to build out engaging and eye-catching materials that span across various digital channels every day.

Primary Objectives:

  1. Drive brand consistency across all company communications.
  2. Develop and implement brand guidelines.
  3. Complete a high volume of production tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Work with our International teams to develop geo-specific content.

Essential Position Duties (typical monthly, weekly, daily tasks which support the primary objectives):

  • Write clear, attractive copy with a distinct voice.
  • Conduct and manage user stories and case studies.
  • Edit and proofread copy as needed.
  • Use SEO principles to maximize copy’s reach.
  • Think creatively and develop new content, ads, and other marketing materials.
  • Complete a high volume of production tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work with our International teams to develop geo-specific content.
  • Write copy for a variety of media including social, print, video, and online.
  • Edit and proof work to ensure high editorial standards are met across all content outputs.
  • Collaborate with creative, product, marketing, and legal to assess project needs and help with messaging.
  • Drive brand consistency across all company communications.
  • Develop and implement brand guidelines.
  • Stay current on trends and competitors within the editorial sphere.
  • Conducting research to formulate ideas or support writing.
  • Learning about the target audience for copy.
  • Assisting in other aspects of the creative or research processes to create cohesive, accurate content.

Required Education and/or Experience:                                                  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Journalism, English, or a related field.
  • Two or more (2+) years of Copywriter experience.
  • Experience with SEO.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:                                  

  • Proactive, self-motivated, well-organized, highly creative, and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication
  • Proven experience as a copywriter or related role
  • Knowledge of online content strategy and creation
  • Strong research skills
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Great attitude

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proven experience as a copywriter or related role

  • Familiarity with writing for both B2B and B2C audiences

  • Interpret copywriting briefs to understand project requirements
  • Collaborate with designers, PR, and other professionals on large- and small-scale marketing projects (e.g. email campaigns and landing pages)
  • Comfortable conducting high-quality research and interviews

Computer/Software/Application Proficiency:                                         

  • Intermediate use of HubSpot
  • Experience with Wordpress

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 10% travel required
