Senior full stack engineer that will work on strategic platform initiatives on a Cloud Native platform. The engineer will play a critical role within a cross functional Scrum team within a large Scaled Agile delivery group.

This position is available for: Center Valley, PA; Las Vegas, NV; Morrisville, NC; and Tampa, FL

Responsibilities:

  • Be a key senior team member within a high velocity engineering team.
  • Collaborate across teams to find solutions for complex business scenarios and integration issues
  • Describe the structure, characteristics, behavior, and other aspects of software to teams and stakeholders
  • Assist with defining features, setting timelines, and planning work on features
  • Design both internal and customer-facing API interfaces in consultation with senior engineers
  • Act as technical consultant and subject matter expert for Marketplace products to internal teams and 3rd party integrators
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies relevant to Shift4 and apply them where necessary
  • Monitor and analyze production systems to ensure smooth operation
  • Technology
    • Work hands on within the platform tech stack to deliver new features, fix issues and ensure best practices.
    • Contribute to the technical design and architecture development for parts of the solution working with the team leads and engineering leadership. Ensure that best practices are adhered to.
    • Diagnose and resolve issues with deployed systems in collaboration with DevOps and the operations groups when required (as a part of level 3 support).
    • Become a technical expert for parts of the platform.
    • Evaluate and resolve technical debt, engage in platform modernization and build reliable features.
  • People and Leadership
    • Work very closely with the product team, product owners and stakeholders to understand needs and ensure alignment.
    • Interface across multiple engineering teams and engineering groups working on various parts of the platform.
    • Mentor and develop technical skills within junior team members.
  • Process
    • Work closely with the engineering leadership to contribute towards process improvements.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years total relevant industry experience.
  • 5+ years working with Javascript / Typescript based front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, Ember (Ember would be highly advantageous).
  • 4+ years working with Node.
  • 4+ years working with Agile teams. Experience with Scaled Agile (such as SAFe) 
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions architect, or similar role

Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience working with AWS environments (troubleshooting, monitoring, etc.)
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams.
  • Domain expertise with point of sales systems, hospitality software and/or online payments solutions would be a significant plus.
  • BS/BA in Computer Science, related degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with relevant technologies used by team (Node.js, PostgreSQL,
    RabbitMQ, React)
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS technologies
  • Experience with Payments or POS development
