Shift4 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the VP of Data Systems. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing our internal systems data architecture, internal Shift4 business intelligence (BI) needs, and our data integrations team. You will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining efficient and scalable data systems, leveraging your hands-on expertise in AWS services, Conceptual Data Modeling, Data Warehousing, ETL services, Tableau, and Mulesoft. Experience in building and integrating data systems for real-time and analytical reporting needs will be a necessity. 

 


Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Manage the Data Architect(s), Data engineers, AWS engineers, Business Intelligence engineers, and Technical Business Analystsof the Digital Transformation Data Systems organization, and ensure that resources are properly staffed to support Shift4 strategic initiatives.
  • Manage the Integration Engineering team supporting legacy systems and Mulesoft linked applications, ensuring that resources are properly staffed to support parallel projects supporting Shift4 strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee and lend support / instruction as a SME in AWS technologies (Lambda, S3, security, etc.), Python, Postgres, Redshift, SQL Server, stored procedures, SSIS, Tableau, etc. in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our internal systems data architecture to ensure efficiency, scalability, reliability and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize Data, Integrations, and Business Intelligence requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the data architecture and integrations teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the full life cycle of data projects, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, integrating with CRM/ERP and other systems, deployment, and support.
  • Ensure the security, privacy, and compliance of data systems, adhering to relevant industry standards and regulations, including privacy standards such as GDPR and similar regional requirements.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of data systems, implementing proactive measures to address bottlenecks and improve efficiency.
  • Monitor and optimize integrations of the Shift4 data architecture to operational systems, as well as between systems when custom integrations are required.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data management, BI, and analytics, making recommendations for their adoption and integration into existing systems.
  • Collaborate with the internal systems organization, IT, technology team, external vendors, contractors, and partners as needed to support data system initiatives.

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ yrs of experience as a Director or VP of Data Systems (or similar / equivalent role) overseeing data systems, integrations, and supporting BI needs within a complex organizational environment.
  • 5+ yrs of experience in a management role overseeing teams of 20+, leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • 5+ yrs of hands-on deep technical experience in AWS cloud services, including data storage, data processing, and analytics tools (such as Redshift, S3, Lambda, Python, security, etc.).
  • AWS Certifications in 1 or more of the following: Cloud Data Engineer, Solutions Architect, Software Development
  • Hands-on experience in Tableau or relative BI reporting tool (i.e; Cognos, MicroStrategy, Qlik, Business Objects), for data visualization, dashboard creation, and report generation.
  • Experience in designing and building data systems for real-time and analytical reporting, enabling timely and accurate decision-making.
  • Experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integ Svcs), Mulesoft, or other integration platforms is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, data architecture principles, data modeling, and database design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex data challenges and provide effective solutions.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing data projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field or experience in lieu of a degree.
