Job Summary

This Shearer’s Foods Category Manager will act as category expert for Salty Snacks, Cookies & Crackers Categories by providing best in class, actionable category and shopper insights recommendations. This individual will be responsible for analyzing various data sources, identifying business insights, and recommending solutions that drive profitable category growth. This Category Manager will have emphasis on the Walmart & Sam’s Club businesses and have responsibilities that include other facets of Shearer’s sales and cross functional teams. He/she will strive to develop and grow total category sales by leveraging syndicated data, shopper and consumer insights, category, and industry trends. The Category Manager will work cross-functionally to influence Shearer’s comprehensive category growth strategies focused on shopper centricity, enabling greater sell-through and Private Label Market and Category share gains.

Your Seat at the Table:

  • Act as the Salty Snacks, Cookies & Cracker expert for the channel and customer by providing thought leadership guidance to internal constituents and external customer decision makers.
  • Expertise in National Brand and Private Brand dynamics within assigned Category responsibilities
  • Serve as the expert on the use of syndicated data to assist sales and business segment leads in making well informed decisions from actionable insights.
  • Generate weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting and insights to identify opportunities and deliver solutions that drive profitable category growth.
  • Understand business drivers to influence joint business plan activities.
  • Leverage learnings from multiple data sources (Nielsen, Circana, Kantar, Mintel, Luminate/Scintilla, etc.) to deliver impactful recommendations to the Walmart Inc Merchant, Shearer’s Sales team, and Shearer’s Leadership
  • Influence the line review process with shopper insights and data to make recommendations on optimal assortment, planogram space allocation, innovative items and flow.
  • Form perspective on multi-channel purchasing behaviors (e.g., site to store, store to site, etc.)
  • Develop effective presentations and present to the merchants and key Shearer’s and retail customer stakeholders.
  • Develop expertise and best practices in Walmart Luminate/Scintilla to inform and influence strategic decisions for Walmart Inc. merchants and Shearer’s Sales Team
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

What you Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (emphasis in business/marketing or related field)
  • 3+ years of experience working with a consumer goods company (Category Management, Shopper Insights or related position)
  • Experience in category management on major national retailer; experience supporting the Mass & Club Channels
  • Demonstrated knowledge of category management philosophies, tools and processes and proven record of success
  • Ability to build strong sustainable working relationships with the customer, and cross-functionally within Shearer's (Sales, Marketing and Insights)
  • Strategic thinking, self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Advanced analytical skills and computer software proficiency (e.g., Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Strong familiarity with syndicated data metrics and software (e.g., NPD, IRI, Nielsen, Numerator, Luminate/Scintilla)
  • Prior experience analyzing retailer data and presenting key findings and recommendations to senior level executives
  • Proven ability to analyze and identify insights from a combination of data sources
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management, follow-up, organizational, communication and presentation skills
