Sr. Manager Capital Project Startups

Massillon, OH (Hybrid schedule)

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager to lead capital project startups within our organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of successfully launching and managing large-scale capital projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, excellent project management skills, and a deep understanding of the capital project lifecycle.

Your Seat at the Table: 
•    Provide ownership, leadership and support for commissioning, qualification and verification (CQV) activities for capital projects executed throughout the company
•    Collaborates closely with other resources and groups across the platform to ensure overall operational objectives. Works alongside other engineering leadership to help achieve the overall objectives.
•    Develop comprehensive project plans and strategies for capital project startups, considering all aspects including scope, budget, schedule, and resources.
•    Coordinates with and informs operations and related/affected groups regarding test plans, operational resource needs, test results and operational parameters.
•    Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly monitor project progress, addressing any deviations from the plan promptly.
•    Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions and ensure timely delivery.
•    Operates with a coaching, mentoring, empowering and supportive management style.
•    Facilitates the development of CQV skills as part of Operations Excellence.
•    Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to align project objectives, gain buy-in, and ensure project success.
•    Oversee the allocation of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure efficient project execution.
•    Implement quality assurance processes to uphold project standards and deliver high-quality outcomes.
•    Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
•    Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize project processes and enhance overall project delivery efficiency.
•    Share lessons learned and best practices with the broader organization to facilitate ongoing learning and development.

Leads and Develops Team Members

•    Communicates effectively with employees through both oral and written means.
•    Provides feedback to employees on individual performance standards in a timely and efficient manner.
•    Builds rapport and collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams.

Performs additional related duties as assigned

What you Bring to the Table:

•    Bachelor's degree preferred in engineering, construction management, business administration, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
•    Proven experience (8+ years) managing capital projects, including startups and following CQV process, preferably within industries such as construction, manufacturing, or infrastructure.
•    Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and monitor complex projects within budget and schedule constraints.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
•    Solid understanding of project management methodologies and tools, with PMP or similar certification preferred.
•    Leadership experience, including leading cross-functional project teams and driving results in a matrix organization.
•    Analytical mindset with the ability to identify issues, analyze data, and make data-driven decisions.
•    Flexibility to travel as required for project assignments.
