As the Vehicle Weight Engineer, you will lead weight management for a new, world class EV product interfacing with all engineering teams and suppliers. The vehicle development engineer will lead weight analysis and optimization to ensure vehicle level performance targets are achieved.
Duties and responsibilities
Lead vehicle weight target setting for vehicle platform.
Collaborate with SF Motors engineering teams and suppliers to achieve comprehensive weight data for all vehicle components, assemblies and subsystems.
Lead weight optimization, analyze data and identify opportunities to reduce weight to achieve performance targets.
Maintain weight data integrity with the Program Bill of Materials and the PLM system.
Support engineering change control requests for weight data and analyze impact.
Create a weight management process for SF Motors.
Create reports for management outlining current project status or current issues.
Minimum travel requirement = 10-20% (Domestic and possible international)
Required Education and Experience
4-year engineering degree (Mechanical Engineering Preferred) or equivalent in related work experience in weight management.
3-5 years of experience working in vehicle weight engineering, demonstrated experience leading a weight management on a vehicle program.
Experience with 3D CAD systems and /or PLM systems preferred
Strong team working ability with excellent communication skills.
Working experience with part suppliers for weight management.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft product suite.
