Role Summary:

  • This position will be responsible for interaction design, wireframing, and writing specifications for in-vehicle controls and displays, taking into consideration North American Region consumer preferences, and the creation of our brand’s design and interaction specific guidelines and language.
  • This position will work in HMI research creating human-centered designs for next generation of automotive technology and use cases.
  • This position will act as a mentor and expert voice for the NAR region in his/her skillset.

Role responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of user interface concepts for the US-specific features of the in-car systems
  • Lead the design of user interface concepts for the US-specific features of smartphone apps that are meant to be used while driving, as well as car-related features that are meant to be used outside of the car.
  • Apply design rules and follow driver distraction guidelines for the design of user interfaces that will be used by the driver while driving.
  • Create user interface concepts for next generation
    system features and new functional requirements.
  • Create user interface specification documentation, such as wireframes and UML state charts, for series software development.
  • Work together with functional owners, software developers, graphic designers, text translators and testers towards the implementation of infotainment system features.
  • Coordinate the localization of the system by reviewing US English text translations.
  • Validate that the system is implemented according to specification by participating in testing activities.
  • Work together with other project stakeholders such as Design, Research, Marketing and Quality to establish project goals, direction and reach decisions.
  • Stay up to date with local market news and trends in User Interface design, new technologies and features that could be used inside and outside the car (attend auto shows, network with internal and external project partners).
  • Collect market specific input from internal stakeholders like testing activities, user studies, expert evaluations as well as external stakeholders like JDPower, competitors, and press.
  • Act as local market experts for our Chinese counterparts by analyzing the collected input, evaluating and validating it before sharing with them.
  • Strive for the localization of the local product, by proposing new features as well as changes and improvements to existing features.
