The Opportunity:

Under the direction of the “Service Leader”, the role of Sr. Risk Advisor builds robust relationships through working to understand the client’s needs and providing solutions that effectively protect their risks.  In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage, retain, and grow a diverse client portfolio. In addition, this role may be asked to assist with risk/coverage analysis and marketing for more complex new business opportunities. The incumbent must be able to work at a strategic level to develop and retain consultative relationships with business consultants, insurance carrier partners, risk service team members, and existing clients all in support of Sequoia’s growth and retention initiatives

  • Managing the client renewal life cycle: pre-renewal, renewal, post renewal and client meetings as needed.
  • Working with team members at all levels to ensure client satisfaction. Pro-actively addressing client issues whenever possible.  Immediately addressing matters impacting customer satisfaction as they arise.
  • Ability to manage and evaluate a high level of insurance/risk related information in a variety of formats and identify appropriate coverage and markets/carriers for diverse client risks.
  • Managing day to day account transactions including additions/deletions of vehicles, property acquisitions, exposure changes, contract reviews, mergers/acquisitions, coverage analysis and program recommendations with positive client interaction.
  • Effective submission and negotiation renewal business to various markets including generation of accurate renewal submission, proposals, and timely handling of post renewal activities in a timely manner.  Schedule and present renewal presentations to clients.
  • Maintain and cultivate productive relationships with insurance carrier partners.
  • Administration of policy checking, endorsement processing, and task management in accordance with agency management systems policies and procedures.
  • Assist with new business opportunities through referrals, cross-selling, account rounding, and coverage/risk analysis support
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the “Service Leader”

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years’ Property & Casualty client service experience
  • Property & Casualty Broker License required
  • Must be able to work independently and prioritize workflow to ensure completion of all tasks
  • Thorough knowledge of P&C underwriting, coverages and insurance markets including use of insurance carrier systems (e.g. - Chubb, C N A, Hanover, Hartford, Travelers)
  • Excellent negotiation, organizational, interpersonal, creativity, problem solving, and communication skills (written and verbal English)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in agency management systems; experience with Vertafore products (AMS360 and ImageRight) preferred
