In addition, Sensei will run the F&B operation, as part of a licensing agreement with Nobu. Reporting: General Manager

Position Description:

The primary role of the Director Rooms is the management of all Rooms Division Operations, including Experience Specialists, FD Operations, Bell, Valet, Housekeeping and Laundry. The Director of Rooms is responsible for ensuring that exceptional guest service is delivered with flawless execution from their teams.  The Director of Rooms is accountable for the seamless coordination of processes and protocols between departments that results in a guest experience that exceeds expectations and ensures guest loyalty. The Director of Rooms is responsible for the cleanliness and pristine presentation of the hotel, retreat, restaurant and recreational facilities. As a member of the Executive Committee, this individual works with the General Manager and other Division Heads to develop and implement property-wide strategies that consistently deliver products and services that meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the guests and align with Sensei brand expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages all aspects of the Rooms Division to include Experience Specialists, FD Operations, Bell, Valet, Housekeeping and Laundry
  • Ensure all operational protocols and SOP’s are written, implemented and executed by staff with precision and excellence on a daily basis
  • Meet regularly with Rooms Division teams and attend daily stand-up meetings to maintain an effective flow of communication to staff for clear and consistent dissemination of pertinent information and instructions
  • Ensure Rooms Operations meet the Sensei brand standards at all times
  • Manage the Rooms Division to budget with fiscal responsibility and regularly review of P&Ls
  • Regularly move throughout the departments to monitor all elements of visual presentation; ensure that all systems are properly operating and the aesthetic quality is to expectation
  • Maintain/review profitability measures of departments and set objectives and initiatives to generate increased revenues
  • As a member of the Revenue Strategy team, attend and participate in weekly revenue management meetings
  • Control operating, equipment and labor costs to minimize loss
  • Ensure operational pars are consistently maintained and reported by direct reports
  • Develop and implement cost saving and profit enhancing measures throughout the departments
  • Review daily revenues and labor reports and compare to monthly forecast/budgets
  • Oversee the training and development of all direct reports and ensure departmental trainings are regularly scheduled and attended
  • Ensure that all laws, ordinances, and procedures are strictly adhered to with regards to safety and risk management
  • Be familiar with the existing and emerging health and safety protocols associated with COVID-19 and how such events have impacted our business, guests, and employees
  • Maintain and monitor execution and follow-through of agreed upon daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly communication meetings and resulting actions items and initiatives 
  • Assist with recruitment for key positions, bi-weekly payroll, resource scheduling and staffing based on advanced guest bookings, other program needs and available resources
  • Monitor program facility set-ups and cleanliness, equipment functionality, and supply inventories
  • Be fluent and proficient in the Sensei technology used on-site, as well as for recruiting and corporate reporting
  • Cover shifts and work hands-on as needed and business levels demandMaintain a strong unwavering commitment to ensure employees are well cared for in their daily work and that wellbeing activities and opportunities for growth are provided
  • Any and all related duties as assigned by the General Manager

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ senior management experience in a luxury resort
  • Proven ability to manage all aspects of a Rooms Division in a luxury environment and to lead successful teams
  • Exceptionally skilled in guest recovery strategies with an ability to train and inspire others in the art of hospitality
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledgeable and adept in learning all software platforms utilized in Rooms Division procedures
  • Familiar and comfortable with technology and applications such as Excel, Word, Asana, Slack and others
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Sharp financial, P&L and budgetary acumen
  • Experienced in yield management and sales strategies to maximize revenues
  • Ability to recruit, retain, develop, motivate and inspire a team
  • Strong personal commitment to wellness and motivated to live the Sensei Way
  • Able to be efficient and productive in a dynamic environment
  • Discerning attention to detail, brand presentation, cleanliness
  • Experience in networking, dealing with Community associations and City affairs
  • Practices confidentiality regarding all Executive, HR, legal, and ownership related matters
