The Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Associate II to contribute to Sail’s mission of building novel programmable RNA technology. This is an exciting opportunity to be an essential part of a team working to leverage sequence optimization of existing RNA constructs as well as designing radically new constructs aimed to expand Platform knowledge about expressible RNA in vitro and in vivo. Your results will help to test and to further train cutting-edge AI/ML models. This position will offer the opportunity both to excel as an independent individual contributor in your field of expertise as well as to collaborate with multiple teams across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and purify RNA constructs, test their expression in cells, and analyze data
  • Contribute to the design and improvement of RNA constructs
  • Assist other teams to apply your techniques as needed
  • Collaborate with computational and ML teams to analyze data and plan future studies
  • Maintain a detailed, organized, and updated electronic laboratory notebook
  • Work well in a collaborative cross-functional matrix organization 
  • Regularly present results with analysis at group and platform wide meetings

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering or related field or a Bachelors Degree with 2+ years of experience.
  • Critical thinking, good attention to detail, and thorough approach to work
  • Molecular biology techniques: PCR, DNA extraction, DNA digestion, in vitro transcription, reverse transcription, RNA extraction and purification, gel electrophoresis
