The Position

As a key member of the Senda Biosciences Computational Team, the Computational Biology Scientist (I/II) will drive Senda’s pioneering work of unlocking programmable medicines for human health. Working as part of a cross-disciplinary team of Scientists, Computational Biologists and Data Engineers, the Scientist (I/II) will develop and apply computational methods to advance Senda’s RNA platform.


  • Champion efforts focused on the computational design, analysis and modeling of programmable RNA-based therapeutics
  • Leverage the Senda Discovery Platform to collaboratively drive design-built-test campaigns on programmable RNA sequences
  • Evaluate mRNA sequences to identify their influence on the in vitro/in vivo performance of therapeutic mRNAs
  • Participate as a key contributor developing scalable components of the Senda Discovery Platform including, but not limited to, optimization of programmable RNAs for therapeutic programs
  • Collaborate with the diverse scientific community at Senda to identify and advance future technologies centered on programmable medicines
  • Clearly communicate efforts across a team of interdisciplinary colleagues spanning both platform and program
  • Contribute to the culture of scientific excellence at Senda

Required Experience

  • PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field with experience in industry a plus
  • Proficiency in a relevant programming language (g. Python, R) and standard command line tools
  • Experience in molecular biology and NGS data analysis
  • Success in analysis of mRNA structure/function or with mRNA design/optimization campaigns
  • Exposure to ribosome profiling, high-throughput screening assays
  • Demonstrated success leading computational aspects of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to clearly communicate methods and findings across varying levels of technical expertise
  • Knowledge of, and experience applying, best practices in data science

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience with design and/or analysis of high-throughput molecular screening assays
  • Exposure to protein engineering
  • Excellent documentation and experience with version control, containerization and workflow management solutions such as Nextflow, Snakemake, Airflow, or Luigi
  • Able to successfully balance multiple project efforts
  • Firm grasp of modern statistical methods
  • Ability to thrive in a driven organization with evolving goals and deliverables
