The Position:

As a part of the Senda Biosciences' Process Development team, the Research Associate will be responsible for performing a variety of bioprocess techniques, including fermentation, centrifugation, tangential flow filtration, etc.  Further, the candidate will assist in characterizing samples from various parts of the process using online and off-line instrumentation. This individual will be a key member of Senda’s dynamic, expanding, and collaborative team that combines significant experience in microbiome-based taget discovery, microbe-host interactions, drug deployment, and human health to unlock the potential of the company’s core technological platforms. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work with senior Process Development staff to design and execute experiments
  • Assist in the production and characterization of microbial products
  • Developing and refining isolation techniques for lipid particles
  • Assessing particle purity post isolation
  • Analyzing particle size and content
  • Identifying and developing ways to move from batch towards continuous bioprocessing
  • Scaling up existing lab scale isolation and purification processes
  • Collaborating closely with other team members

 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • B.S. or M.S. in bioengineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, biology, or a related discipline; with 1-3 years industry experience
  • Experience with microbial fermentation and bioreactors strongly preferred
  • Experience with diverse downstream bioprocessing technologies
  • Experience with centrifugation, TFF, depth filtration, dialysis, chromatography, microfluidics or other separation technologies
  • Execution-focused, team-oriented, and highly motivated, with strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects concurrently and collaborate across disciplines
  • Strong verbal, written communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic, innovative environment

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with pilot or large-scale fermentation and downstream processing
  • Experience with particle size analysis
