About this Role

As the Director of Events Audience, you will have a key role on the team managing high-profile global and national events including signature summits, single topic forums, newsmaker interviews, thought leader roundtables and receptions. You will use entrepreneurial, innovative, out-of-the-box thinking to develop audiences for our portfolio of newsworthy and impactful high-quality events. This position reports to the Head of Consumer Marketing and will closely collaborate with the Head of Events. This is a full-time, permanent position is based in Washington, DC, with most days onsite in the office.


Your Responsibilities 

  • Develop a clear audience curation thesis for each event in collaboration with internal stakeholders. 
  • Develop and execute audience development strategies for all Semafor events. Including but not limited to:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including content creators, social media managers, and newsletter editors, to align audience development efforts and ensure cohesive strategies.
    • Forge strategic partnerships with like minded organizations for reach into our target audiences. 
    • Build and manage a budget for paid marketing opportunities 
    • Build prospecting lists from our internal databases and execute creative outreach strategies. 
    • Measure and report on event audience metrics for reporting and optimization
  • Collaborate with the Head of Audience to determine and meet growth-driven KPIs for Semafor Events.
  • Manage the production of event registration pages and marketing promotional materials in collaboration with the Head of Events and Event Planners
  • Act in capacity of “Attendee Concierge”, providing white glove service for attendees of Semafor Events.
  • Provide logistical and backend support on event days as needed 


What makes you qualified

  • Experience developing audiences for a newsroom or live events organization
  • High comfort level with data and measurement of marketing activities.
  • Familiarity with databases useful for mining to build prospecting lists 
  • Analytical and strategic thinker
  • Experience running tests to optimize marketing and user experience initiatives
  • Familiarity with email reporting and analysis
  • Ability to clearly articulate and present data analysis to a cross-sector of leadership stakeholders across Semafor 
  • 5+ years of experience in audience development, marketing and/or research


The base salary for this position at the time of posting will range from $105,000.00 - $125,000.00. Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility, and qualifications.
