Segment recently launched its Startup Program, which provides Segment for free for two years to qualifying startups. A key component of the start-up program is a network of relationships with leading startup incubators around the world (like YC, TechStars, SOSV, StationF)  and with technology companies that are part of Segment’s catalog (like AWS, GCP). Startups can easily pick and deploy the most effective growth stacks for free (or at heavily discounted prices), leveraging a growing set of educational resources available through the program.
The program was launched by a cross-functional lean team across our BD, marketing, and engineering teams and we’re now looking to hire an exceptional candidate, who will drive the strategy and success of our Segment Startup Program. The successful candidate will identify, champion, and execute scalable initiatives to develop and engage our growing partner ecosystem, across technology and distribution partners (i.e., incubators, accelerators, and VCs).
Top candidates must have demonstrated the ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges, convey compelling data-driven decisions, and work collaboratively to build consensus.

What you’ll do

  • Develop, refine, and manage value propositions and business cases for Startups, technology, and distribution partners to join and invest in the Segment Select Partner Program.
  • Work with our engineering and marketing teams to build highly scalable acquisition initiatives for both startups and distribution partners
  • Review effectiveness and impact of such initiatives on recurring basis internally and with partners 
  • Partner with the startup teams at AWS, Google, WeWork, and other leading global startup program to distribute our program at scale
  • Identify new high-leverage technology and distribution partners
  • Work with our CX product team and marketing teams to ensure that startups are getting the most value out of Segment and integrate it deeply in their applications
  • Develop mutually-beneficial and trusting relationships with selected partners, making Segment a favored company with which to partner

You’re a great fit if you…

  • You are a former startup founder, ideally alum of a major startup incubator
  • You have worked at a successful global startup program (i.e., AWS Activate, Google Cloud for Startups, etc.)
  • You posses both a business and technical background – a business background to enable the candidate to drive engagement with leading startup accelerators, and technical exposure to enable the candidate to easily interact with startup founders, engineers, and builders
  • Have experience in building growth stacks and are comfortable with acquisition tactics at scale
  • Are excited about rolling up your sleeves and getting stuff done in the unstructured environment of a hyper-growth technology startup
  • Have experience driving and maturing a partner program to manage a large ecosystem of partners 
  • Have a proven track record of leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects to success 
  • Love building relationships inside and outside the organization
  • Are highly productive
  • Have strong product sensibility, and comfort with considering basic technical feasibility of partner integrations
