At Segment, we believe companies should be able to send their data wherever they want, whenever they want, with no fuss. And Segment is a tool that has helped thousands of companies do exactly that. We quickly found, though, that customers want more. Customers want the ability to understand their customers. 
 
Enter Personas.
 
Over the past year, the Personas team has been busy building a platform to enable the holy grail of customer data — the single view of the customer.  Our team’s goal is to help Segment customers gain a higher level understanding of their end users. We are lucky to have built a product that solves the pain-points of everyone from two-person startups to large Enterprises, but within that range we’re looking for someone that can uncover and execute on the biggest opportunities.

It’s almost too powerful. Over time, we’ve found the thirst for a tool like Personas grows far beyond the demand the tiny but mighty team that built it can support. And we’ve found that as the thirst for this tool grows, so does our need to ensure that it’s available where our customers want and need it to exist. So we’re presented with an incredible challenge: reimagining where and how this powerful tool lives in a way that will allow it to be even more impactful. 
 
That’s where you come in.
 

What you’ll do:

  • Host collaborative sessions to facilitate creativity, problem framing, and alignment with PMs and Engineers within your product pillar
  • Lead product strategy and vision for your team — not just “how it should look”, but more importantly… “what we should build?” More on how we do that here.
  • Discover insights through continuous customer, user, and stakeholder engagement
  • Embed yourself within a pillar team for better collaboration and engagement with PMs, Engineers, and PMMs
  • Rapidly prototype interactions and experiences, testing them with users along the way
  • Collaborate with designers and developers to lead, curate, and expand our design system
  • Utilize usability metrics and design principles to help refine design decisions and prioritize your work and product decisions
  • Write about, present, and share what you have learned, both internally and with the wider community via blog, events, and design platforms  

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in collaborating with product managers to develop the strategy and rationale for features
  • Experience in working cross-functionally with product managers and other designers to ensure campaign and strategic goals are met
  • Experience in user research and user testing, and a data-informed perspective to design
  • A relentless customer-focused approach to design
  • 3+ years of experience building b2b, data infrastructure, or similar product experiences
  • Strong and structured communication, both verbally and written
  • Ability to define projects and measures of success, test your assumptions and outcomes, and continuously incorporate feedback
  • Ability to collaborate with teammates to make their work and team better
  • Ability to effectively take direction with feedback from co-workers and partners and have excellent communication skills

  • You are a self-starter with your eye constantly on problems and solutions: you are someone who can easily step into the customer's shoes with enthusiasm to craft magical experiences
