The Role

As Operational Risk Management Head, you will oversee the operational risk management function of the bank and its subsidiaries and champion the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and system enhancements to create a robust environment in the management of operational risks, business continuity, information security, and IT risk.

How you'll contribute

  • Identify material individual, aggregate, and emerging operational risks for risk assessment purposes.
  • Assess dimensions and interpret business risks using risk measurement, modeling techniques, and qualitative risk analysis.
  • Formulate, propose and ensure updating of policies, risk limits, and risk mitigation in consultation with affected units to define risk culture that guides the bank and its subsidiaries in its conduct of business.
  • Influence and when necessary, change material risk decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with the CRO as well as Audit, Compliance, and senior management and provide input to key decision-making activities such as committee deliberations on products, projects, and crisis management.
  • Recommend and implement initiatives aimed at process improvements and digitization to generate robustness, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Empower, develop and recognize employees through coaching, mentoring, rewards, and recognition to encourage a value-adding mentality, teamwork, and alignment with bank objectives.

  • Establish and implement an early warning or trigger system for branches of the Bank's risk appetite or limits to mitigate risk in its early stages.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, Commerce, Economics, Finance or related field.
  • At least 10-15 years of experience in risk management or audit from the banking or financial services industry.
  • Must have good working knowledge in technology, information security risk management and project risk management.
  • Strong understanding of control frameworks and ability to design and evaluate effectiveness of controls embedded within products and processes.
  • Superb problem solving, decision making, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Highly analytical with strong presentation skills to different stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong lead / effective leadership experience.
