Data-driven decision making has always been important at SeatGeek. Our Analytics team helps guide strategic decision-making by providing meaningful insights from data.

We’re looking for a talented Analytics Engineer to join our growing team. You will ensure that the most relevant information is surfaced to each business team, ensuring data-driven decisions. If you’re a diverse, business-savvy, technically capable person with SQL experience, figuring out complex systems and building scalable data models, we’d love to talk with you.

What You’ll Do

You’ll architect and manage the analytics layer of our data environment to make data standardized and easily accessible to both our team and within our visualization platform by writing production-quality transformations in dbt. Additionally, you will:

  • Establish and manage SLA for all data sets in allocated areas of ownership; tune the performance of our Redshift cluster, and investigate and refactor any expensive queries or inefficient data models
  • Work with our teams (e.g., Engineering, Product) to ensure upstream changes integrate with our data models and build the necessary capabilities to adjust when they don’t
  • Evangelize data expertise, best practices, and documentation for all data needs
  • Integrate and productionize Data Science and Analytics models as needed
  • Create and maintain world class dashboards and data models in our BI platform (Looker) as needed

Who You Are

You love digging through mounds of data, but your understanding of what is relevant and your ability to communicate results concisely separates you from the pack. You have an affinity for building efficient and scalable data models designed for our needs. You look forward to open discussions around the “gray” area of decisions, but aim to narrow that area with data driven insights as much as possible. You also take pride in providing data, analysis and findings in a collaborative manner. You also have many of the following:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a data role
  • Advanced SQL experience in data modeling, query performance, and query optimization
  • Experience working with business stakeholders to understand problems and engineers to understand data sources, and have excelled in architecting data models to meet the needs of end users
  • 3+ years working with a data warehouse (e.g. Redshift, Snowflake)
  • Exposure to dbt, Luigi, Airflow or other DAG frameworks
  • Knowledge of transactional marketplace business model or consumer-facing, mobile-first products
  • Affinity for efficiency, DRY code, and scalable data models

Perks

  • A culture that places the product first. We are a technology company at heart, and are proud of the idea that great technology drives great user experience
  • A laid-back, fun workplace designed to facilitate collaboration and company wide events
  • $120/mo to spend on tickets to live events
  • A superb benefits package, including full health/dental/vision
  • A focus on transparency. We have regular team lunches and Q&A panels where employees can chat openly with teams across SeatGeek, our co-founders, and external guests from the industry
  • Hackathons: scheduled times when everyone drops what they’re doing and builds cool stuff in small groups
