Scribe Therapeutics is a molecular engineering company focused on creating best-in-class in vivo therapies that permanently treat the underlying cause of disease. We are seeking a highly creative, passionate, and motivated individual to join us in our quest to develop the next generation of CRISPR-based therapeutics. The current role is for a Bioengineer to join our team and advance our platform. The candidate should have a passion for working collaboratively with biologists and bioengineers to enable building the necessary tools for meeting the new frontier of CRISPR-based therapeutics. Additionally, the candidate would bring expertise in at least one of the following fields: molecular biology, protein or RNA engineering, biochemistry, or synthetic biology. In addition, the candidate would bring the creativity to design and execute high-throughput, pooled, or multiplexed molecular characterizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work across our platform engineering and discovery biology teams to develop, validate and execute need-based novel assays in vitro and in vivo
  • Develop strategies to further scale-up or scale-out current assays using high-throughput, high-content, or pooled approaches.  
  • Support 2-3 person disease-focused team to develop and execute genome editing therapeutic strategies to address the underlying causes of disease across a range of therapeutic areas.
  • Develop in vitro disease models involving primary cell cultures and/or differentiation/reprogramming to relevant cell types.
  • Efficiently communicate results to team members verbally and in writing.
  • Effectively collaborate with members within a fully integrated team to facilitate execution on projects within established timelines.
  • Foster a driven, fast-paced, dynamic, and fun environment in which to do rigorous science.

Required Skills and Background:

  • PhD in Bioengineering, Genomics, Molecular Biology, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in an academic or industry lab, with a proven track record of developing and executing novel, high throughput, high content or pooled assays in mammalian cells. 
  • Hands-on cell culture experience and ability to scale in vitro projects. Work in iPSC-derived cell lines is a plus. 
  • Solid computational skills including experience with one or more programming languages. Familiarity with bioinformatic and computational biology packages is a plus. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work efficiently and productively in a dynamic, scientifically rigorous, and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, and critical problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Skills and Background:

  • Familiarity with CRISPR technologies and therapeutic approaches.
  • Experience with laboratory automation and robotics.
  • Familiarity with viral vectors and other delivery modalities for introducing genetic material into primary cells.
  • Knowledge of high-throughput arrayed or pooled screening systems e.g., NGS, flow cytometry, high-content imaging, scRNAseq.
