What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Establish a comprehensive Scout Motors vehicle logistics strategy in a greenfield environment, optimizing for cost, expediency, cash flow management, reliability, and damage minimization while accounting for evolving business priorities as production volumes and distribution geography rapidly expand.
  • Create an operational roadmap and create the project management structure necessary to smoothly and efficiently stand up all vehicle logistics services on-time and within budget.
  • Coordinate all vehicle logistics studies and consulting engagements, starting with a finished vehicle logistics network and operations study and continuing with supplementary engagements as needed.
  • Lead the management of multiple third-party carrier and logistics vendors, including rail, long-haul truck, last-mile delivery, and specialized logistics services, from initial procurement through contracting, onboarding, and operating phases.
  • Manage both day-to-day and strategic relationships with key vehicle logistics vendors, establishing clearly defined SLAs, performance measurements, business reviews, and escalation procedures.
  • Define and manage a comprehensive damage management, repair, and dispute resolution processes.
  • Define an initial and steady-state organizational structure for a Scout Motors vehicle logistics department, then build a highly efficient and high performing organization with clear operating procedures, budgets, and role responsibilities.
  • In coordination with Scout Digital Products and Scout IT, define the IT systems, internal tools, connected-car capabilities, and external partner integrations required to effectively manage day-to-day vehicle logistics operations.
  • Collaborate with Scout Production to define factory yard marshalling and outbounding processes, setting appropriate vehicle logistics strategy, procurement, and performance monitoring targets to meet requirements of both Scout Production and the retail network.
  • Collaborate with the Scout Sales Planning and Scout Retail Operations teams to continuously align logistics plans and capabilities with evolving business needs.
  • As needed, manage logistics relationships and performance monitoring programs with regional and/or local inventory handling and vehicle storage partners.
  • Create a process and supporting infrastructure to achieve specialized vehicle logistics requests from other Scout Motors stakeholders, such as Product Marketing, Experiential Marketing, and Communications.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events occasionally. This role is open to remote applicants in the United States with the exception of New York City. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience establishing and/or managing automotive logistics services for an OEM or high-volume vehicle retailer.
  • Deep operational experience and intuitive understanding of all forms of vehicle logistics and all modes of transportation.
  • Prior engagement with and ability to assess broad array of automotive logistics vendors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading logistics services procurement, vendor evaluations, contract negotiations, and performance monitoring.
  • Proven track record of building a high-performing team and developing a supportive, motivating, and customer-centric team culture.
  • Mindfulness of organizational navigation and ability to create effective cross-functional collaboration at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage effective vendor/partner relationships.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to interpret customer feedback and translate data into actionable insights.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $150,000-$180,000
