What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive logistics strategy for efficient spare parts distribution in the United States and Canada, ensuring the highest service levels parts availability while meeting cost objectives.
  • Plan and build parts logistics operations including warehouses, distribution channel design, parts procurement, and inventory management.
  • Define initial stock levels and safety stock requirements for both central warehouses and service workshops.
  • Ensure adequate provisioning to ensure high service levels with efficient inventory costs by creating appropriate parameters and policies for supply and replenishment systems.
  • Determine the most appropriate packaging and storage model for spare parts, ensuring efficient space management and product handling.
  • Align parts logistics initiatives with broader business goals and objectives, driving sustainable growth without compromising customer satisfaction.
  • Support the integration of parts systems with the broader Scout Motors IT landscape and, as required, with Volkswagen Group systems as to ensure effective coordination between all parts logistics stakeholders.
  • Identify and evaluate competent dedicated freight carriers and common carriers that are capable of providing reliable, fast, and cost effectives services to Scout Motors parts logistics network.
  • Create, deploy, and manage performance tracking measures that indicate the health and performance of Scout Motors parts logistics on a continuous basis.
  • In coordination with Scout Legal, ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events occasionally. Domestic and international travel is anticipated for 10% of working days, though international travel for training and coordination may be more frequent in the first two years. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City.

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or other relevant field.
  • 7+ years of experience in supply chain management or logistics operations.
  • 3+ years of experience in parts logistics, ideally in the automotive (or closely adjacent) industry.
  • Strategic thinking and strong analytical skills for planning and optimizing the supply chain, as well as leadership skills to lead multifunctional teams and collaborate with different areas of the organization.
  • The ability to identify opportunities for improvement in logistics processes and a willingness to adapt to a dynamic and constantly evolving business environment.
  • Deep understanding of inventory management principles, distribution network design, and procurement processes.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful logistics strategies that optimize inventory levels, minimize costs, and ensure short delivery time of spare parts to service workshops and similar end users.
  • Strong analytical capabilities related to demand forecasting, inventory turnover rates, and service levels to identify trends, anticipate future needs, and make informed decisions regarding inventory planning and stock allocation.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements related to spare parts management, including quality standards, safety regulations, and import/export laws.
  • German language proficiency is a bonus and will contribute to success in the role.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $130,000-$160,000
