What we’re looking for…

Highly motivated, self-driven and experienced Network Engineer to be a part of ScienceLogic’s IT Operations team.  The IT Ops team is responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, administration, and issue escalation of ScienceLogic’s on premise and cloud infrastructure, including supporting systems and infrastructure of customer facing environments in different physical geographic locations, AWS, Azure, and other public cloud locations.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Design, implement, maintain, troubleshoot, and configure network systems and infrastructure, including physical, virtual, and cloud environments. This includes routers, switches, firewalls, servers, edge devices, storage arrays, and their AWS/Azure cloud counterparts.
  • Perform daily operations tasks such as IPsec VPN tunnel provisioning, implementing secure connections with public cloud resources, patching and maintaining network infrastructure, responding to alerts and incidents, and creating rack and network diagrams and documentation.
  • Collaborate with other internal teams on network design for new solution deployment and the integration of acquired offices/systems.
  • Ensure network devices and services are operational 24x7x365.
  • Perform all activities in keeping with established change management and approval procedures.
  • Participate in the on-call schedule for after-hours and weekend support.
  • Execute and complete systems and network projects to meet ScienceLogic's internal and customer-facing needs, including the evaluation of new technologies and platforms to determine their applicability in addressing ScienceLogic’s business challenges.
  • Leverage Tier-1 & 2 support by creating proper network design documentation, and create process/procedures/policies to aid in knowledge transfer among the team.
  • Provide Tier-3 escalation support for any infrastructure-related issues on the IT network.

 

Qualities you possess…

 

  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Experience with networking and security in Public Cloud environments such as AWS and Azure is essential.
  • Over 5 years of experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining fully redundant, highly available, and scalable infrastructure deployments, including IP networks, Layer 2/3 technologies, routers, Layer 2/3 switches, firewalls, load balancers, hypervisors, and storage.
  • Extensive knowledge and strong fundamental understanding of enterprise network technologies including TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF/BGP/EIGRP), VoIP protocols (SIP/SCCP), VLANs (STP/VTP), VPNs (IPSEC), QOS, VPCs, stateful firewalls and IP addressing.
  • Proven experience and expertise in troubleshooting Cisco network infrastructure.
  • More than 5 years of experience in troubleshooting and designing solutions that leverage protocols such as HSRP, MSTP, 802.1q, 802.1AX, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, LDP, and VRF.
  • Over 5 years of experience and proficiency with TCP internals and various Layer 4-7 protocols and technologies, including SSL, HTTP, DNS, NTP, Local Load Balancing, Global Load Balancing, and network monitoring tools like Netmon/Wireshark.
  • In-depth understanding of virtualization technologies, particularly VMware.
  • Expertise in managing network performance for load, capacity, and transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex network challenges effectively and efficiently through problem-solving, troubleshooting, project management, and task prioritization with little guidance.
  • Highly motivated and capable of quickly learning new technologies, keeping networking skills current with emerging trends.
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must possess a completed CCNA certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Network Engineering or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Desirable skills include experience with Oracle Linux, Amazon Linux 2023, Kubernetes, Docker, and other containerization technologies.
