Physician Investigators are responsible for working closely with the Science 37 clinical study teams to conduct virtual study visits via telemedicine and the Science 37 platform. Successful candidates are those with an interest in using cutting-edge technology to revolutionize drug development and those who enthusiastically value teamwork and innovation with the goal of advancing medicine through a patient-centric approach.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Function as a Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator for therapeutic areas/ indications that align with clinical expertise/ experience when Science 37 is executing studies as either a Metasite or fully decentralized trial
  2. Coordinate with Clinical Project Manager to identify, onboard, and train investigators for Science 37 studies
  3. Educate and train Science 37 study team about target patient population and treatment paradigms for given indication for studies
  4. Support hybrid trials conducted by traditional brick and mortar sites functioning as Medical Affairs lead as a method of facilitating site adoption and project management support in conjunction with the Clinical Project Manager
  5. Collaborate with Business Development counterpart to review study opportunity synopses/protocols to assess fit/feasibility for decentralized trial model 
  6. Support Business Development counterpart during sponsor/client meetings and teleconferences
  7. Support Science 37 study opportunities as a subject matter expert in the development of study opportunity proposals
  8. Collaborate with Business Development counterpart to review study opportunity synopses/protocols to assess fit/feasibility for decentralized trial model 
  9. Support Business Development counterpart during sponsor/client meetings and teleconferences
  10. Support Science 37 study opportunities as a subject matter expert in the development of study opportunity proposals
  11. Serve as Science 37 representative for decentralized clinical trial and therapeutic area-specific expertise at industry/clinical conferences and webinars
  12. Publish peer-reviewed articles and white papers related to therapeutic area-specific expertise and the decentralized clinical trial model

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Qualifications 

  1. Advanced degree in Medicine (MD or equivalent)
  2. Board-certification in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine
  3. Demonstration of clinical & research excellence within academia, private practice, and/or pharma
  4. 10 or more state medical licenses preferred
  5. Knowledge of the most current clinical practice guidelines and an understanding of medicolegal and ethical standards

  1. Expertise in virtual patient care (telemedicine). Demonstrates ability to effectively and compassionately communicate with patients, clinical research staff, and other colleagues through technology.  Maintains high quality customer service.
  2. Strong practice of accountability. Understands the value of processes, roles, and responsibilities in a rapidly scaling business. Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and achieve goals according to accountability.  
  3. Knowledge of field organizational strategies. Adapts to a rapidly changing work environment. Successful decentralized team management and situational responsive decision-making.
  4. Extensive knowledge of clinical research. Understands the drug development process. Knowledgeable about the critical elements for success in clinical trials; participation in and contribution to these activities. Ability to create and review protocols, programs, and assess the feasibility/pathway to success of a project.
  5. Strong communication and presentation skills. Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with project team members and study participants
  6. Computer skills. Working knowledge of MS Office suite and Google applications. Willingness to gain expertise in the use of proprietary clinical research software. 
  7. Practices professionalism and integrity in all actions. Demonstrates ability to foster concepts of teamwork, cooperation, responsibility, and flexibility to get the work done.
  8. Strong project and time management skills. Able to successfully lead/manage research personnel as an investigator. Proactive problem-solving abilities and follow through.

REPORTING

The incumbent performs with minimal supervision. All projects are assigned by the Medical Director, Internal Medicine.
