Schweiger Dermatology Group, a leader in the field of dermatology practice with multiple locations throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania is searching for an experienced histotechnician to join out Pathology Lab in New York, NY.
Job Summary: Histotechnicians are responsible for preparing tissue specimens for pathological examination; helping maintain laboratory equipment; training in the use of new laboratory equipment; performing routine histology procedures; preparing solutions required for any histological examination; plus all related job duties as assigned. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Summary of Essential Histology/Dermatology Job Functions:
Prepares and maintains reagents and equipment.
Grosses, Processes, Embeds and Cuts tissues.
Performs routine, Special, and Immunohistochemical staining.
Maintains procedures and records to meet all regulatory standards.
Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
Assure appropriate specimen accessioning and labeling.
Maintain the integrity of the specimen and patient identification.
Demonstrates handles and disposes of specimens and chemical waste based on the laboratory’s procedure manual, and ensures compliance with regulatory policies.
Associates Science degree, BS degree, or related discipline in Histology required.
Required One year experience in Histology laboratory preferred, new graduates will be considered as well.
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in stressful situations.
Ability to work safely with infectious material and/or hazardous material.
