We’re looking for a Scientific Python Developer to aid us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life.
Schrödinger is on the cutting edge of drug discovery and materials science. We license this software to researchers all over the world and also use it to advance our own internal drug discovery efforts. FEP+, WaterMap, Glide, Maestro, and LiveDesign are just a few examples of the programs we’ve created.
As a member of our Python Development team, you’ll play a key role in writing and maintaining GUI, workflow, and application code across a broad range of scientific products. This role presents an excellent opportunity for someone looking to transition from research science into full-time professional software development while still leveraging a scientific background. It involves writing complex, science-related interfaces, tools, and workflows, but generally does not include scientific work such as method development, validation, or data analysis.
Who will love this job:
- A scientific programmer who is passionate about building well-designed, well-tested, user-oriented software
- A natural collaborator who enjoys interacting both within the team and across teams
What you’ll do:
- Write clear, highly-organized, maintainable Python code
- Adopt good software engineering practices and methodologies
- Build complex software with many moving parts
What you should have:
- Masters or PhD in Chemistry, Biology, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field
- Good grasp of object-oriented programming principles
- Familiarity with unit tests
- Experience with GUI development and/or large, complex codebases preferred, but not required
