The Role 

We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to be part of an ambitious, newly formed quantitative investment team. This means the role will sit within a revenue-generating team. The team seeks to research and implement strategies across several different disciplines including systematic fundamental, sector specific and statistical arbitrage. This remit will involve multiple greenfield technology buildouts on cloud-based environments including projects around: machine learning, data warehousing, analytics engineering, ETL & ELT, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code.


What you’ll do 

The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining functionality across various elements of our cloud-native data platform. As a member of a growing investment team, you sit next to the Quantitative Researchers and Data Scientists and work with them to define data outputs needed for research. This is a role that will require you to own the design and implementation of new data processes – this could be data modelling and pipelining for new data sources, creating analytic tools, creating data for downstream analyses and dashboards, enhancing parallel compute capabilities for machine learning, feature engineering and automating quality checks.


What you’ll bring

What you need:

  • Experience with Python and SQL
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehouse technologies (Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)
  • Experience with cluster compute (Spark, Dask, etc.) and schedulers (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect)
  • Experience working with data analysts to define data models, publish metrics, and build dashboards
  • Highly skilled and analytical problem solver with logical thought processes and quantitative aptitude
  • Strong sense of project ownership and a track record of delivering results

We’d love if you had:

  • Experience within a quantitative trading firm/hedge fund or experience with timeseries/market/alternative data
  • Interest or experience in analytics engineering (with dbt or other ELT frameworks)
  • Experience working with machine learning or NLP data pipelines.
