The Role 

An internal systematic portfolio management team is looking for a Quantitative Researcher. You would be part of a team trading systematic commodity-focused strategies for a large multi-strategy hedge fund.

                                                                                                                                                                

What you’ll do 

The Quantitative Researcher will research, productionalise and manage fundamentally-driven systematic strategies that trade agricultural commodities. You will monitor news flow and data releases in the ags markets and keeping the portfolio manager informed on outlook with respect to the portfolio’s positions. You will also cover the whole cross commodity strategy when the portfolio manager is away. The ideal candidate has a fundamental background and is looking to move into systematic research and trading.

 

What you’ll bring

What you need:

  • Experience as an ags analyst or strategist at an investment bank, trading firm, hedge fund and/or research provider
  • Experience focused on major grains and oilseed markets
  • Deep understanding of agricultural markets with hands-on experience building supply, demand and pricing models.
  • Intermediate Python or significant (expert) experience in other OO languages (ability to learn Python quickly).
  • Familiarity with statistical concepts and modelling such as linear regression, variable selection, Normal and non-Normal distributions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A self-starter, entrepreneurial, and a passion for quantitative strategies
