How We Work:
Scale attorneys are not salaried; instead, Scale pays attorneys a percentage of the fees collected from their clients. Unlike in a traditional law firm setting, where attorneys typically receive a third of the value they create for the law firm, Scale attorneys net a combination of collected origination and matter responsible fees.
Who We're Seeking:
We are seeking experienced patent litigators who are looking to work on cases of significant importance to our clients, often against industry competitors.
You may be a perfect fit if you:
- Have played a meaningful role in patent litigations involving multiple patents and/or venues (district court, ITC, PTAB)
- Have in-depth knowledge of patent law and procedure
- Have taken or defended numerous depositions of a variety of types of witnesses and/or argued before a judicial body in a patent case
- Have excellent research and drafting skills
- Enjoy owning a significant piece of litigation or dispute
- Are team- and growth-oriented, and enjoy working with colleagues who share that approach
Some things we would like to see:
- Five years or more of experience at a national or boutique law firm with a focus primarily on patent litigation matters
- Graduation from a top-tier law school and an ability to demonstrate an excellent and sustained reputation in the industry
- Admission to the Patent Bar
- Direct interface with your or your firm’s clients
- An ability or willingness to develop clients
- Knowledge of and interest in working on matters on contingency or under alternative fee arrangements
- A desire to practice at a high level with interesting clients, benefitting from the support, network, and brand of a firm, while also enjoying solo economics
