Job purpose: The Café Operations Manager’s primary purpose is to uphold Saxbys operational standards in their café and facilitate a healthy and profitable café operation through the mastery of Saxbys Three Pillars of team development, community leadership, and financial management.
Summary of duties and responsibilities:
Team Development
- Ascertain the training needs and offer appropriate coaching and direction to the team while providing regular feedback
- Execute HR responsibilities including, but not limited to recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and coaching team members
- Communicate openly with team members and provide clear feedback
- Partner with Talent Development department to identify an assist with the development of the internal talent pipeline
- Monitor and report on café staffing levels to achieve and maintain the operational requirements while meeting or beating labor percentage goals
- Drive direction with cross-functional recruiting & marketing teams to ensure the café receives the support needed to maintain operational excellence
Community Leadership
- Develop and lead community relationships to ensure that your Saxbys café is an integral part of the community that it serves
- Responsible for the planning and execution of community outreach initiatives to drive top line sales
- Ensure that all product rollouts and promotions are executed effectively
- Serve as the liaison between your café and HQ to instill Saxbys Mission, Core Values and impact mission
- Instill and maintain a culture of hospitality and servant leadership
Financial Management
- Identify opportunities and institute key performance indicators to meet and exceed sales goals and use operational tools to monitor costs to increase profitability
- Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency
- Manage cafe level supply chain and ensure effective inventory management to meet or beat budgeted COGS percentage
- Analyze and manage café financials by completing weekly Schedule Reviews, Three Pillars Reviews, and monthly P&L reviews
Operational Support
- Manage shifts and shifts changes effectively through proper scheduling
- Assist in the preparation and service of menu drinks and food items
- Ensure Serv-Safe standards are upheld to maintain café cleanliness including all service spaces, guest seating areas, and bathroom facilities
- Coordinate with other Saxbys departments to ensure operational excellence
- Appropriately execute administrative work to support café operations:
- Manage cash by preparing daily cash deposits
- Monitor and manage product availability and waste through inventory counts
- Take lead on ordering and invoicing for product and supplies
- Create weekly schedules to ensure appropriate labor per café volume
- Ensure the safety of the café, guests, and team members
