What You’ll Do
The Advanced Controller Development (ACD) is part of Samsung’s Memory Business Unit, the industry's technology and volume leader in DRAM, NAND Flash. ACD’s vision is to solve key problems of Cloud & Data center by developing the new technology for storage (SSD) controller. We are an integral part of Samsung’s strong R&D focus & lab innovation engine. We work closely with development teams to bring feature innovation to product roadmaps.
As Staff CAD engineer you will be responsible for maintaining new EDA tools for CAD projects to build up new flows for advanced process improvements. You will advise on tools selections and interface with various EDA tool venders and Samsung foundries to optimize the EDA flows, design collateral and files necessary for the design team to operate efficiently. Additionally, you will interface various digital design teams who will be requesting deployment, training, and maintenance of tools and flows, and collaborate EDA vendors as needed

- This is a Hybrid role, working onsite at our San Jose headquarters at least 3 days per week with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time

- Enable digital design teams to meet targets by closely supporting and troubleshooting CAD flow usage
- Develop standardized CAD flows that can be leveraged across development based on various process technologies in parallel
- Be able to independently troubleshoot digital tool flow usage and deploy solutions
- Fluent in scripting languages such as TCL, Python, etc. and able to build scalable and efficient flows to support parallel design developments
- The ability to manage Linux environments is also required.
- Experience designing, developing, and supporting CAD tool flows for both analog and digital ASIC design.
- Ability to work with internal and external tool developers to implement enhancements to support a highly efficient workflow
What You Bring
- Bachelors in Electrical, Computer Science or related with 10+ years of experience or Masters in Electrical, Computer Science or related Science with 8+ years of Industry Experience or PhD in Electrical, Computer Science or related Science with 5+ years of Industry Experience Preferred.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Tcl/Perl/Python
- Experience in ASIC design flow
- Experience in memory controller and related IP level and/or SOC level verification is a pulse
- Experience implementing digital logic designs in FPGA systems or other emulation methods is a pulse
- Must be highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Track record of innovation and creativity in problem solving
- Ability to meet aggressive project deadlines in a team environment
- Ability to work successfully with cross-functional teams, including coordinating across organizational boundaries and geographies
