The Memory Solutions Lab (MSL) mission is to develop innovative open system architectures and solutions that transform the performance of semiconductor memory in SSDs, mobile devices and data centers.Samsung Memory Solutions Labs (MSL) is part of Samsung’s Memory Business Unit, the industry's technology and volume leader in DRAM, NAND Flash, SRAM memory. MSL’s vision is to solve key problems & optimize architecture solutions for Cloud & Data center environments. We are an integral part of Samsung’s strong R&D focus & lab innovation engine.
OVERVIEW & IMPACT:
We are looking for a talented, highly motivated, disciplined, responsible software engineer who has expertise in enterprise software development and data center storage infrastructure for Samsung Semiconductor’s Storage Software Group in San Diego. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing large scale-out storage software systems and will work to build innovative solutions for next generation storage technologies.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- erform research and analysis on datacenter storage centric networks and systems
- Design, scope, develop, test, and document high quality code according to industry best practices
- Productively participate in design and code reviews
- Rapidly prototype new solutions
- Collaborate on developing new technologies and products for enterprise class customers
- Optimize and tune storage software stacks for performance, management and ease of use
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Expert knowledge of C/C++
- Expert understanding of Multi-Threaded design, programming, and debugging
- Must be highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to quickly develop proof of concept prototypes based on requirements
- Expert level understanding of computer science fundamentals
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong software engineering skills with efficient, maintainable and testable code
- Experience developing datacenter or enterprise storage software
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a small team with limited oversight
- Expert knowledge of Linux and Linux internals
- 10+ years of Software Development/Storage experience required
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science required

PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience with datacenter storage architectures (e.g. Object Stores, Databases, Big Data)
- Good understanding of x86, TCP/IP, Networking, PCIe, NVMe/NVMe-oF
- Experience with Linux/Unix kernel modules, drivers and clustering with hands on experience with kernel debuggers, performance counters and protocol analyzers
