Lab Summary:
As part of MPS (Mobile Platform Services) and SRA, you will be a member of the Immersive Experiences (IMEX) Team focusing on Framework, Runtime, SDK for XR (AR, MR, VR) technologies, building the next generation head mounted displays & Intelligent Glasses. We work on both commercial and next gen technologies that impact Samsung’s vision for the next few years.
Position Summary:
The Director XR will work with the XR teams in Mountain View and Suwon, to successfully launch the XR devices. You will be working on the Runtime and Software Framework for XR devices, to launch commercial-level products.
Position Responsibilities:
- Design, architect and lead the development of new features for our XR devices
- Collaborate with the hardware and software experts to drive the strategic direction for the new XR features
- Identify opportunities, prototype POCs, and implement compelling features to the XR platform meeting the KPIs necessary for launching the XR product
- Drive various technical areas spanning from the core framework, runtime, display pipeline, UI Toolkit & animation, Avatar experiences for the XR platform
- Explore and implement highly efficient 3D algorithms, platform optimizations, and XR application-level improvements
Required Skills:
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 15+ years of experience in Software Development with the knowledge of the XR technology
- Familiarity and hands-on experience with Android OS running on ARM processors
- Good understanding of XR software platforms, covering the display graphics pipeline, framework & runtime
- Experience with perception and graphics pipeline, GPGPU computing with OpenGL/Vulkan
- Understanding of deep learning CV algorithms and experience with ML tuning and refinement with ML libraries running on the NPU
- Experience with Avatar solutions, with tracking of head, hands, eyes and facial expressions
- Familiarity with the Android developer & UI toolkit, profiling/debugging tools, build systems etc.
- High proficiency in full software development cycle, from requirements, prototyping, implementation, testing and delivery to customers
- Expertise in methods for partitioning a solution across hardware and software within an overall systems solution
- Experience with XR devices such as Quest, Vision Pro, Pico, Vive, HoloLens and Magic Leap
- Strong teamwork, communication skills, passion, productivity, and self-learning ability
- Mentor, guide and lead team members to successfully execute multiple tasks on time
- Proven ability to work in a dynamic, multi-tasked environment
- Proficiency in C/C++, object-oriented software design & agile process
