The Samsung AI Center Mountain View (SAIC-MV) leads at the forefront of innovation in providing the best on-device user interaction experience to Samsung users. The success of AI will depend on how well devices understand their users – and how well devices empower users. SAIC-MV takes on grand scientific and engineering challenges in machine intelligence and actively contributes to the international research community through scientific publications and presentations in major conferences in research areas of deep learning, efficient/on-device AI/ML, NLP, speech, dialogue, and contextual/multimodal modeling. The SAIC-MV is a key part of Samsung’s global R&D effort and aims to have influence on future Samsung products reaching hundreds of millions of users worldwide.
We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Director. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to advance the state-of-the-art in natural language and knowledge intelligence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the vision to provide superior personalized and contextual AI experience for Samsung device users.
- Manage the full lifecycle of AI projects, ensuring timely delivery and integration with products, aligning with company business goals.
- Stay ahead of AI and NLP advancements, lead cutting-edge research, and patent and publish papers on new technologies.
- Lead, mentor and grow a multidisciplinary team of researchers and engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Present progress, insights, and recommendations to executive leadership, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- PhD or MS in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, NLP, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- 10+ years of experience in AI and NLP, with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering impactful AI solutions.
- Proven experience of product development, moving from strategy to execution, delivering results.
- Extensive experience initiating and driving projects to completion with minimal guidance, communicating insights and ideas across organizations.
- Extensive experience in strategic planning, project management, and operational excellence in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and guide teams through complex challenges.
- Extensive knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing techniques and frameworks.
- A strong publication record in top-tier AI and NLP conferences is a plus.
