Lab Summary: The Standards & 5G Mobility Innovation (SMI) lab is committed to developing technologies that enable ubiquitous access to information and provide immersive multimedia experiences for mobility users.  Our research focuses on:

  • Wireless standards and technology including 5G, LTE-A, IoT
  • RF & fast prototyping of 5G wireless systems
  • Multimedia standards and technology including VR, HDR, All-IP delivery

Position Summary: Join the SMI lab of Samsung Research America in Plano, Texas to contribute in the development of Samsung's vision of next generation of wireless communication and sensing products.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development of software features and components on ARM-based SoCs.
  • Design and implement applications in embedded Linux environment
  • Contribute to software architecture design, coding and integration.
  • Perform system level testing with hardware systems
  • Write software to interact with devices/FPGAs.
  • Work closely with hardware teams to support board bring-up and integration testing.
  • Work closely with wireless prototyping teams to define and build interfaces.

Qualifications:

  • Strong embedded Linux and C/C++ programming skills
  • Expert in the development of real-time systems and embedded software framework running on high performance multi-core SoCs
  • Familiar with processor architecture, RTOS and software optimization
  • Experience with troubleshooting in the lab or field test environment
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Prior experience in Linux driver, IP networking, protocol stack software development is preferred.
  • Education – MSCS/MSEE, PhD preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
