Title: Senior Data Scientist- ML
Company: Samsung Research America (SRA)
Lab: Bixby
Location: Mountain View, CA
Lab Summary:
Samsung is working towards a vision of providing world-class AI services on its industry-leading hardware platforms like the Galaxy phones, and home appliances like the smart refrigerators and TVs, smart washers and dryers, etc. Real-time AI services on these connected IoT devices will enable users to interact with devices more naturally via spoken dialog, visual interaction, continuous learning, and big data analysis.
Researchers and engineers at Samsung Research America (SRA), located in Mountain View, CA, are working hard towards making the Samsung vision a reality. We are looking for candidates with expertise in AI, large scale data analysis, statistical analysis, deep learning, computer vision, robotics and language understanding to join us. You will work with a team of research scientists and engineers tackling real-world problems involving Samsung’s Artificial Intelligence initiatives. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers and publish at top-tier conferences in data mining, deep learning, computer vision, robotics, and language understanding.
Position Summary:
Traditional Continuous Integration Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) in Quality Assurance is centered around human generated code. However, modern AI services are delivered online and in real-time; they are not delivered on CDs. To adapt to this new world, we are building a CI/CD platform centered around machine-learned models, from training the models to managing multiple production releases, quality analysis, integration, bugs, rollbacks, patches, A/B testing, online monitoring, etc. The processes are independent of the type of real-time AI service – voice assistants, web search, autonomous vision systems, etc. If you are interested in building quality assurance platforms for the online AI services world, this is your dream job.
Responsibilities Include:
- Facilitate integration of the AI system/software into existing production environment and help in architecting our MLOps environment.
- Work with existing CI/CD team and streamline MLOps processes.
- Manage the ML automation processes for continuous ML modeling.
- Establish pipelines for continuous user evaluation and monitoring processes.
- Work with release engineering team and establish a proper model release process
- Keep current with the fast-moving world of AI, from modeling techniques to platform innovations.
Experience Requirements:
- Masters in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Experimental Physics, Statistics or related technical field with at least 2+ years’ experience after degree
- Knowledge of basic statistical techniques (t-tests, confidence intervals, p-value, etc.)
- Experience with building AI applications using Deep Learning platforms like PyTorch or TensorFlow on GPU
- Experience with platforms like Spark, Hadoop, Kafka; Airflow, Kubeflow pipeline, Azure Pipeline, AWS SageMaker Pipeline, Databricks MLFlow, Jenkins; Jira, and Git a plus
- Experience with building Apps in Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri a plus
- Experience with cloud computing platforms like AWS, GCP and Azure a plus
- Experience with data visualization/dashboard tools like Superset, Elasticsearch and Kibana, Grafana, Tableau, a plus
- Strong programming skills (C++, Java, Javascript, etc.) and scripting skills (Python, R, Perl, SQL, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Good communication and team-working skills
