Lab Summary:

The VD Intelligence Lab was established in December 2017 as a Center of Excellence to contribute in the development and formulation of Samsung’s vision intelligence-related concepts for Visual Display - SmartTV systems and applications. The team’s mission is to collaborate with the divisional HQ in further extending Samsung’s market leadership position in TV and home entertainment systems through innovations and thought leadership in building intelligent software solutions.

 Responsibilities

The head of VD Intelligence Lab will oversee a team of S/W engineers, researchers, and project managers with the following key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of next generation, intelligent features and prototyping, together with the Korean HQ R&D center.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new products for Visual Display.
  • Support global and US market SW products and development.

The head of VD Intelligence Lab will work in a cross-functional setting, with the Divisional HQ R&D and Marketing, to plan, prioritize, and deliver SW architecture, SW design, test tools, SW platform and applications to support implementation of cohesive intelligent features on VD products.

 Experience Requirements:

  • Proven leadership experience setting the vision and managing operations of SW engineering teams in dynamic environments. Experience leading teams of SW engineers and SW project managers, and balancing competing priorities is essential.
  • 15+ years of experience in SW development for internet connected CE products with various cloud servers, AI, Big data related project experiences are preferred.
  • 5+ years of proven and rich experience leading and managing SW engineering teams in world class companies.
  • Successful track record in delivering integrated, high-end and quality SW products or prototypes on schedule within budget.
  • Ability to work with technology experts to uncover and understand technology requirements and capabilities as they relate to SW products or prototyping deliverable.
  • Experience in a large scale, high-volume data warehouse environment
  • Experience gathering and documenting business, functional, and customers, stakeholders’ requirements
  • Hands on management experience with complex new SW projects for products or prototypes, including project scope, cost, development, implementation, and integration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively represent the direction, results and technical concepts created in the course of work.
  • Partner with key business stakeholders to prioritize work and create amazing products to support our data platform.
