Roles and Responsibilities:
Job Summary/Overview:
The Immigration Specialist is responsible for providing support to the SAS PERM program within the Immigration Team and through outside counsel. The position will work closely with outside counsel and People Operations (HR) Team members to ensure SAS compliance with PERM program requirements. This position will also work with and guide the HR Recruiting Team on immigration related issues as they arise in the recruitment process. The position will also work as needed on non-immigration petitions, and other immigration related tasks.
Specific Job Duties:
• Support and manage PERM and H-1b programs in conjunction with HR.
• Provide guidance for B, F, L, H, O, TN and other NIV processes to HR and individual applicants.
• Support the preparation of new/extensions/change of status NIV petitions; gather documents from applicants; review and check for accuracy.
• Support HR on education of recruiters, hiring managers, and employees on immigration issues/benefits.
• Support the preparation for Responses to RFE’s.
• Correspond with In-house Counsel and Outside Counsel regarding questions posed by HR, employees, applicants, etc.
• Create and maintain programs to ensure immigration programs are compliant, efficient and responsive.
Shift: 1st - 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, M-F
Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree
• 3 years of direct immigration paralegal experience working on PERM and H-1b cases.
Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools:
• Extensive experience with one or more of the following required: L-1A/B, H-1B, H-1B1, TN and/or O-1 visa petitions, and employment based permanent resident petitions and applications.
• Immigration work experience in the semiconductor manufacturing industry preferred.
• Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently and under tight deadlines.
• Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Must be attentive to detail; office organization and management experience, as required, with preferred experience in a legal setting.
