Roles and Responsibilities:
Job Summary/Overview:
I&C Design Engineer responsible for design code compliance and safety for new facilities and retrofit design. Manage the review of engineering design projects for Instrumentation and Control Systems that may be technically complex, highly visible, or priority projects to verify all pertinent NFPA code issues are addressed. These projects will require a high level of technical proficiency in the application of the NEC and various NFPA standards, as well as site specific standards.
Specific Job Duties:
- I&C Design engineer responsible for design code compliance and safety for new facilities and retrofit construction.
- Manage site consultant design team to develop, review and approve Samsung basics and detail design packages for industrial/process instrumentation and control systems.
- Ensure the I&C design is in compliance with all local & federal regulations and NFPA codes.
- Support project planning for I&C process and systems including review and approval of Samsung specifications related to I&C, I/O rooms, Data center, Hub Rooms and Network topology.
- Interface with site stakeholders, operations and EHS teams to audit that new design, equipment installation and sequence of operation meet regulatory US codes.
- Interface between Construction General Contractor, Subcontractor, Consultant Design Team and various Samsung Owner organizations.
- Identify, track, manage, resolve and communicate project issues during design phase including risk, roadblock, workaround and document control.
- Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate project risk points for safety and code compliance.
- Managing stakeholders in a customer-service oriented team.
- Review and report scope change requests related to cost and schedule.
- Review, approve, monitor, and communicate all ongoing design work.
- The candidate must demonstrate outstanding communication skills required to interface with stakeholders across Samsung Facilities, Manufacturing, and Engineering organizations to interface with design consultants in order to meet the aggressive goals and timelines during all aspects of the project.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required:
4-year degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
Minimum 8 years of experience in I&C field working in design and construction project focused on HVAC, Exhaust, Cleanroom, Telecom, Data centers, CDA and Control systems.
Working Knowledge of NEC,IBC,IFC and other codes and standards applicable to process system design and construction
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools:
- Ability to read and understand design plans, shop drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Familiarity with design and installation of facility equipment, or design and construction of industrial buildings.
- Experience with Control systems, HMI, Industrial communication protocols.
- Experience with PLC Siemens control Logic and platform.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills are required for communication of technical information to diverse audiences.
- Aptitude for documentation and data analysis using MS Office programs.
- Ability to learn custom and internally developed software programs and to interface with programmers to develop and manage databases.
- Reliable and punctual attendance is required.
- Permanent right to work in US and ability to work overtime / on non-scheduled days as required.
- Registered Professional Engineer in state of Texas, or registered in another state with ability to transfer is a plus.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
