Samsara, founded in 2015, is a leader in Industrial IoT and our mission is to increase the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of the operations that power our economy. Our solutions combine hardware and software to bring real-time visibility, analytics, and AI to operations across various industries. Samsara’s fast-growing team is headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in San Jose, Atlanta, and London. Our team has raised over $530M from Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, Tiger Global, and Dragoneer.
Join us in laying the technical groundwork for Samsara’s newest product family, “Connected Worker”, focused on enhancing workplace safety and productivity to benefit people working in harsh, industrial environments.
As a mobile applications engineer on the Connected Worker team, you will architect and build software that manages a powerful computer vision system for workplace safety monitoring, as well as develop cutting-edge mobile and web applications for wearable or handheld devices used by individuals working in field services or lone-worker scenarios.
Samsara’s network of hardware devices delivers terabytes of data per day to our IoT platform, providing real-time data to 5000+ customers worldwide, from emerging businesses to Fortune 500 enterprises. With our cloud dashboard and mobile app, customers can access detailed information about their workforce, commercial fleets, and industrial centers. They use features like real-time GPS tracking, aggregate analytics reporting, and alerting for suspicious behavior to better understand and optimize their operations.
We use Golang for our backend, Typescript and React for our web client, GraphQL to fetch data from our backend, and Kotlin, Objective C, and React Native for our mobile apps. Direct experience with these technologies is not required.
Mobile Application Engineers in Connected Worker might work on:
An alerting system for dangerous behavior by workers on a hazardous worksite
A location monitoring service and panic or man-down functions for lone workers
A mobile UI for exploring live and historical video data and events
A job safety checklist and safety monitoring application that pulls in both ambient environmental data as well as user input to generate and report real-time worker safety status
Natural language processing applications for hands-free, voice-activated activities
An ideal candidate would:
Have 2+ years of relevant industry experience in software development
Have built or worked on production applications
Enjoy understanding our users and what would make their day to day processes easier to manage
Love shipping features that are immediately used by our customers
Seek to iterate on new products based on customer feedback
