As the head of Business Systems, you’ll have the opportunity to lead and build a team that will create and deliver on meaningful, large scale technology programs that increase the ROI of Samsara’s systems and technology and improve the overall value and performance of the organization. Your vision and the work of your team will ultimately make systems/processes more efficient, reduce manual, low-value work, and enable the company to run better, makes better decisions, and ultimately be more profitable.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Own Samsara’s business application infrastructure - all the tools that Samsara uses to operate as a business; the architecture, layout, and usage of those tools
  • Define, drive and share the vision and long term strategy for Business Systems at Samsara. Be the voice and face for Samsara’s Business Systems
  • Hire and Lead a growing team - be an incredible player-coach, help the people you work improve and get better
  • Create solutions that (1) business users love and want to use, (2) will scale with Samsara as it grows
  • Create and own the process for the intake/prioritization of business systems governance and work; ensure your team is working on the right things
  • Understand and manage constituents expectations and expressions of priority through continuous communication with those stakeholders
  • Act as the business systems stakeholder in critical projects, ensuring project success by understanding the needs of the business and leadership, identifying appropriate solutions, and determining how technology should be leveraged to make the solution happen
  • Enable your team to provide continuous support to the solutions you provide
  • Partner with leadership on budgeting and financial projects
  • Make sure that we’re getting the best value out of the software we’re buying - including negotiations with vendors to pay the appropriate amount for the value we’re getting
  • Work with the CSO and security team to make sure the systems that are being implemented comply, are secure, and ensure Samsara has a secure infrastructure

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 to 15 years proven experience as the top-level leader of Business Systems at technology companies
  • A degree in Computer Science/Engineering required
    • MBA a plus
  • Passion for the intersection of user experience, technology, and business value
  • Experience/comfortable presenting to execs and the larger org about what business systems does, and what’s happening and bringing everyone along for the ride
  • Deep understanding of IT systems and infrastructure including the universe of SaaS business products (Salesforce, NetSuite, Celigo, ADP)
  • Experience supporting an inside sales team of 500+ account executives using Salesforce Sales Cloud as their primary CRM, including optimizing user experience to reduce overall sales process friction
  • Deep understanding of marketing operations and quote-to-cash systems and how they’re best integrated with Salesforce (ex: Marketo, Salesforce CPQ or equivalent)
  • Experience as a change agent, delivering large-scale technology and behavioral change in an organization, for example leading the transition from Salesforce Classic to Lightning
  • Passion for using data and creating data-driven cultures
  • Experience with sensitive data and creating systems that meet the security and compliance needs that come with the management/ownership of sensitive data
  • Experience with SOX and the controls of a public company
  • Proven experience leading the consolidation of business systems / processes / applications
  • Effective and proven project management skills
