SamCart is looking for an innovative, dedicated, and experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our growing Software Engineering team. In this role, you will drive design,  implementation, testing, and release of our e-commerce product. Using modern tools and  methodologies, you will leverage deep technical knowledge of object-oriented design to ensure  simplicity, changeability, and longevity in our codebases. This is a fantastic opportunity to work  with a dynamic team of Designers and SDETs to deliver sophisticated e-commerce systems at Internet scale. 

Responsibilities 

  • Lead engineering teams in feature development, testing, and deployment across the full  application stack. 
  • Lead engineering culture by example, evangelizing best practices like test-driven  development and refactoring. 
  • Provide technical and architectural direction, balancing short-term delivery and long term functional and technical goals. 
  • Mentor and pair effectively with other engineers to deliver high-quality code. 
  • Author technical documentation for workflows and processes. 

Qualifications 

  • Expert in full-stack software development leveraging front end frameworks (React, Next.js, etc.) and back-end frameworks (Go, Laravel, Ruby on Rails, etc.) 
  • Expert knowledge of multiple object-oriented programming languages (PHP, Python,  JavaScript, Java, Ruby, etc.) 
  • Professional approach to software craftsmanship with an unflinching commitment to the  disciplines of test-driven development, refactoring, simple design, collaborative  programming, and acceptance tests. 
  • Solid background in cloud-first environments and building cloud-native platforms in AWS. 
  • Demonstrated skill in building reliable software systems at Internet scale incorporating  fundamental design principles (design patterns, SOLID, etc.) in modern architectures  (serverless, microservices, etc.) 
  • Experience developing and deploying software in a containerized environment. 
  • At least 7 years of professional experience building software applications leveraging web application frameworks.

The US salary range for this full-time position is $220,000-$240,000. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
