What you’d be doing:

  • Learn and use actuarial techniques in developing pricing plans

Highly preferred candidates also have:

  • Prior internship experience
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Passage of one or more actuarial exam(s)
  • Strong technical skills
  • Familiarity with R is a plus

About the Actuarial Team at SageSure:

As a member of SageSure’s Actuarial team, Actuarial Interns will have the opportunity to assist in providing technical and analytical assessments of complex business issues related to the management of the current and future development of insurance products. Our interns will learn and use actuarial techniques in developing pricing plans.

About the Actuarial Student Program:

Interns who successfully complete the internship program may have the opportunity to participate in the Actuarial Student Program (ASP), which governs the support offered to Actuarial Students to assist and reward them in their path towards Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS). The ASP addresses study time, successful exam completion salary increases, and the ultimate attainment of the CAS designation. SageSure reserves the right to change this policy at any time.

Program Eligibility:

Participation in the ASP requires the annual written approval by the Chief Actuary.

To remain in the ASP, a student must pass one exam every 18 months for ACAS level or one exam every 24 months for FCAS level. Passing any of the Data and Insurance Series Courses (DISCs) or Validations by Educational Experience (VEEs) will not satisfy this requirement in whole or in part. Students are expected to sit for an exam during each exam window if there is one available for them to take (once between January and June, once between July and December).

The student must provide their grade card which shows either their passing or failing marks. A student that obtains a score of zero or one will automatically be suspended from the ASP.

A suspended student may still take exams and DISCs but will not be provided with study time in the office or financial support from SageSure. Upon passing an exam, the student will be reimbursed for the exam fee. At manager’s discretion, a student may be considered for reinstatement to the ASP, upon passing an exam, if the student is considered in good standing at work. Passing any of the DISCs or VEEs will not satisfy the requirement for reinstatement to the ASP.

A student’s participation in SageSure’s Actuarial Rotation Program is dependent upon maintaining a good standing in the ASP.

ASP Perks and Benefits:

  • Study time: SageSure will provide (workload permitting) company time for studying for the CAS Actuarial Exams leading to Fellowship. Management recognizes the desirability of providing study time; as such, students must recognize their obligation to complete their work during the study season in a timely manner.
  • Exam fees and study materials: While in the ASP, SageSure will reimburse items related to exams, including but not limited to registration fees, study materials listed in the CAS syllabus, study course registration fees, reasonable travel expenses within company guidelines, DISC registration fees, and one additional supplemental course material item.
  • Exam increases: When a student passes an exam or DISC, he or she shall receive a salary increase up to $4,000, depending on the exam passed.
  • Professionalism course: SageSure will pay for the CAS Professionalism Course including registration, travel, hotel, and food. Time to attend the course will be treated as company business.
  • Compensation increase with CAS designation: Upon the attainment of the ACAS or FCAS designation, the student shall be granted a salary increase of $5,000 for ACAS or $10,000 for FCAS.

Whatever your decision, it will not be considered in the hiring process or thereafter. Any information that you do provide will be recorded and maintained in a confidential file.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
