As the Latin America Tax Manager, you will support all tax matters for our Latin America operations, which includes Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Brazil and eventually more! Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, contributing to our goal of maintaining financial accuracy, and overseeing tax related functions such as filing tax returns, advising the leadership team, and managing local tax audits. You will have opportunities to collaborate with members of the North America and Latin America Finance teams, external tax advisors, and other relevant stakeholders throughout the company. You will also have the unique opportunity to help build out our Latin America tax team as the Company continues to expand throughout the region. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical tax expertise, proficiency in both Spanish and English, and experience assessing risk and applying appropriate judgments when navigating complex tax matters.  

 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with both internal team members and external tax advisors to support the Company’s Latin America tax compliance efforts.  
  • Review tax information prepared by third party tax advisors and provide appropriate feedback as necessary. 
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs by preparing tax related documentation with internal resources instead of third party tax advisors.    
  • Work with finance and accounting teams to ensure tax strategies and policies are properly implemented in accordance with local tax laws and regulations. This will require you to proactively stay up to date on relevant tax law changes.  
  • Participate in tax planning innovation discussions and support execution of tax planning strategies. 
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Latin America operations to proactively identify tax efficiency opportunities. 
  • Identify, track, and report any potential tax risks or issues and work closely with the finance team to implement appropriate solutions. 
  • Maintain documentation and records related to tax filings, provisions, and other tax-related activities. 
  • Resolve and prepare the formal answer to all tax-related communications from the vendors and employees 
  • Coordinate and manage tax audits, inquiries, and notices from tax authorities. 
  • Manage efforts around certain indirect taxes, including value added tax and withholding taxes. 
  • Evaluate the financial and fiscal impacts to gain a comprehensive understanding of tax and customs challenges. 
  • Build and maintain a professional network to share best practices. 

 

Required knowledge and experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, with post graduate degree in Tax Management or related field.  
  • 10+ years of related professional experience with accounting and taxes (online gaming experience is a plus!) 
  • Fluent in both Spanish and English. 
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills with ability to present findings and information to various levels of an organization.  
  • Experience and a desire to work in dynamic and fast paced environment that demands creativity and flexibility. 
  • Adequate accounting knowledge, including basic understanding of accounting systems. 
  • Expertise with national and municipal obligations; labor laws; transfer pricing; magnetic media data reports; and municipal and withholding returns. 
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze large quantities of data and use data to improve processes. 
  • Problem Solving – able to recognize and correct a potential tax issue quickly and effectively. 
  • Integrity – implements and upholds company values.
