We are looking for a highly motivated lawyer to join our growing legal team as Director of Legal (Privacy Law). We are looking for a dynamic lawyer to manage privacy and data protection matters, as well as assist with data privacy aspects of commercial contracts supporting RSI’s North America and LatAm product development, operations, marketing, finance and business development teams. Experience with issues pertaining to SaaS, data privacy and cloud computing and procurement of tools and services, development, commercial law and revenue recognition is required. You should be excited to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment as part of a cross-functional group of professionals and have strong communication skills as you will work daily with senior management. 

Responsibilities.  

  • Develop and enhance privacy frameworks for North America and Latin America, ensuring compliance with all relevant jurisdictions where RSI operates sports betting, online casino operations, and development hubs.  
  • Oversee RSI’s privacy and data protection program, including maintenance of privacy policies and procedures, responding to data subject requests, conducting risk assessments & Data Privacy Impact Assessments, and communicating with privacy authorities as required.  
  • Deliver training sessions on privacy and data protection policies and oversee policy implementation and contribute to the development of controls for privacy management. 
  • Manage and resolve privacy incidents, inquires and escalations.  
  • Maintain expertise in privacy and data protection laws, regulations, for U.S., Canada, Latin American and European Union jurisdictions.  
  • Collaborate with various departments including Business Development, Operations, Marketing, Product, and Finance, to negotiate and draft data privacy and technology protection provisions in commercial contracts and vendor agreements. 
  • Respond to administrative and jurisdictional requests, as required. 
  • Communicate with outside legal counsel creating relationships of trust. 
  • Work collaboratively across the legal department and senior leadership on a variety of cross-functional initiatives. 

Required Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience handling privacy matters in house for a technology company or at a law firm where you worked with technology companies as clients. 
  • A solid understanding of privacy/data protection laws 
  • CIPP/US, CIPP/Canada, CIPP/EU a plus 
  • Passion for delivering excellence. 
  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities efficiently. 
  • Experience with supporting people/teams worldwide and remotely 
  • Able to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally. 
  • Previous experience in the gaming industry is preferred but not required 

Education:  

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in a state within the United States.
