Job Summary:

As the Senior Textile Engineer on the Product development team, you will play a pivotal role in the growth and success of Ruggable. You will be a creative problem solver and innovative thinker across the Product organization. More specifically, you will work with our internal teams as well as suppliers in the development, problem solving, and testing of new products and materials. The Senior Textile Engineer will be critical in bringing new and innovative solutions to complex problems, and bringing products from concept, through ideation, and into mass production.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Research, develop, and evaluate textile materials, including fibers, fabrics, and finishes to enhance product performance and achieve target attributes
  • Design and conduct experiments, tests, and trials to analyze material properties, performance characteristics, and manufacturing processes
  • Partner with Product Development team and suppliers to troubleshoot technical issues related to material selection, processing, and performance, and implement effective solutions for scaled production
  • Build and maintain accurate detailed specification packs for handoff to cross-functional teams and manufacturing partners
  • Develop thorough manufacturing SOPs for our raw materials to harmonize how our suppliers make our products, and to accelerate the development process
  • Proactively identify gaps in cross-functional team capabilities and knowledge, and work to build these opportunity areas to achieve excellence in technical problem solving
  • Collaborate with product testing and compliance teams to ensure adherence to industry regulations, standards, and certifications
  • Evaluate and recommend new technology to unlock new products, materials, and product attributes
  • Partner with Sourcing to help identify and vet potential partners through trade shows, conferences, and independent research

What You’ll Need to Have:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Science, Materials Engineering, or equivalent program
  • 7+ years of experience in textile engineering, testing, fiber development, product development, or another relevant function
  • Extensive understanding of textile and yarn manufacturing processes and equipment (e.g., extruding, weaving, tufting, knitting, bonding, washing, finishing, etc.)
  • Experience managing complex developments with domestic and overseas suppliers 
  • Be naturally curious about textile science, staying current with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in textile engineering, materials science, and manufacturing technology to advance Ruggable’s innovation in the category 
  • Knowledge of ASTM, AATCC, ISO, or other related industry testing standards
  • Self-start with excellent project management and organizational skills, and ability to own large projects in fast-paced, unstructured environment
  • Experienced with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (Google Sheets and Slides) 
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to meet with vendors

Preferred: 

  • Advanced degree in Textile Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent program
  • Experience with CPG/Retail, especially with home products, textiles, or carpeting
  • Experience with digital textile printing

Compensation:

  • $100,000 - $140,000 per year base salary
  • An annual bonus percentage that varies based on level of role
  • Employer matching (up to 3% of base salary) for company sponsored 401K plan
