The Role: Staff Accountant

The Rue Gilt Groupe Finance team manages the operating expenses and partners with every department across the organization making impactful decisions daily We’re looking for a Staff Accountant with a high level of integrity, strong attention to detail, and analytical curiosity to contribute to our financial success. The Staff Accountant role is based in our Boston, MA HQ with a flexible hybrid schedule.

What You’ll Do:

As part of the monthly accounting close, prepare journal entries, analyze results and reconcile balance sheet accounts for assigned areas to ensure financial statements are complete, accurate and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Interact with operational departments to gather all relevant financial data to ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting.
Perform monthly expense trend and budget vs. actual analyses for review with key department personnel.
Identify process improvements in month-end close process.
Assist in ad hoc projects, including the annual financial statement audit and bank audits

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
Minimum 1-2 years’ accounting experience; inventory / retail environment a plus
Knowledge of an ERP accounting system, with PeopleSoft experience a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for learning
Public accounting experience (Big 4 a plus) preferred
